A long time ago in a studio far, far away….
Our design and production team had the great privilege of providing the design manufacture and install alongside the fantastic MMM Team for the brand new Star Wars attraction expansion at LEGOLAND Windsor.
The new extension of the Star Wars attraction is to be revealed in March and feature a colossal re-creation of Darth Vader’s ultimate Super Weapon, the Death Star.
The mammoth centre piece is the biggest model ever created for the LEGOLAND Windsor resort, made up from over 500,00 lego bricks and measuring 2.4m wide and 3m the model weighs a hefty 860 kilograms!
The new installation depicts the iconic Rebel Alliances’ attack on the space station in Star Wars: Episode IV A New Hope. With 16 alliance ships swooping in to destroy it. With sound and light effects triggered by guests and a series of animated scenes from the movie including the famous trash compactor scene and Obi Wan Kenobi’s lightsaber duel with Darth Vadar.
Of course the Death Star model won’t be the only new feature in the new attraction expansion, there will also be several new scenes such as the familiar trench run our skilled team helped to produce and install.
Our skilled scenic artists were at hand throughout the project, working hard to transform the walls within the new attraction into hand airbrushed epic space landscapes full of shining stars, comet fields and distant galaxies.
Opening on the 11th March this year, the new attraction is sure to captivate new and old fans of the iconic movie franchise and is something our team would definitely recommend, watch the preview video on the link below!
