Title: Scenic / Set Carpenter (Freelance)

Reports to: Production / Site Manager

Job Purpose:

To provide scenic / project construction services by translating designs (models and plans) into scenery / props as required using a range of materials and skills. Fabricate, construct and repair a range of carpentry products which meet Company standards and requirements.

Key areas of responsibility – Project specific duties:

To manufacture, props, scenery and on-site construction for new projects

To build theatrical and immersive sets, make props and install these within our various diverse venues to deliver world-class shows and themed walk-through attractions.

We are looking for people with impressive creative ability who can produce and engineer wood related items out of the norm with functionality and scenic treatment in mind.

Be able to fabricate one off related items to the highest spec, keeping within the project/ design brief.

Qualifications, Knowledge & Experience Essential:

Flexibility Strong knowledge in scenic carpentry, but also some knowledge in a variety of scenic production e.g. scenic painting, prop making, metal work, fit ups & get outs etc.

Previous professional experience of 1+ years in scenic production and/or installation (be it theatre, film & TV, event, workshop based or site specific) Working knowledge of different methods and materials related to scenic production.

You’ll be happy to work in and outdoors and have a passion for delivering and creating fantastic, immersive themed environments or similar qualifications are very desirable.

Ability to read, understand and work from scale drawings, ground plans and elevations

Competent in the use of workshop machinery and all power tools

Ability to work with the minimum of supervision

Good interpersonal and communication skills

A helpful, positive and flexible approach

Energetic and resilient

Fitness is essential as the work can be physically demanding

Other desirable skills:

Driving licence

Experience of using CNC machinery

Holder of a current CSCS Card

IPAF/PASMA licence
