We are looking for a Scenic Artist to produce finished painted scenery and prop items to meet the project brief. Work as part of a team to agreed deadlines, informing the Art Director of any problems at the earliest opportunity, always monitoring and ensuring the highest standards of work.

Job Purpose:
Produce finished painted scenery and prop items to meet the project brief.
The Scenic Artist must work as part of a team to agreed deadlines, informing the Art Director of any problems at the earliest opportunity, always monitoring and ensuring the highest standards of work.
Maintain high standards of operation and good housekeeping
Participate in training as necessary and appropriate
Essential Knowledge/Skills and Experience:
Excellent knowledge and experience of scenic artistry using a wide variety of techniques and an understanding of period styles and history
Strong understanding of the stage working practises
Ability to work from scale drawings, models, plans, sketches, verbal ideas and references
Excellent ability to use colour to very exacting standards and awareness of susceptibility of colours and mixes of shades.
Excellent awareness of textures of using various materials
Sound knowledge and experience of relevant painting techniques
Sound experience and knowledge of perspective landscapes, line, colour and shape.
Proven ability to interpret from scale design to the larger set
Able to work on own initiative and carry out delegated projects with a minimum amount of supervision.
Good interpersonal and communication skills
Helpful, positive and flexible approach
Reliable and responsible
Excellent personal time management
Self-motivation to acquire new skills and knowledge
Desirable Skills, Knowledge and Experience:
Trained in the use of workshop machinery relevant to your trade. (essential, but training will be given)
Health and Safety training (Essential, but training given)
First Aid qualifications.
Job Requirements:
Physically capable of undertaking the requirements of the position
Flexibility regarding hours of work i.e. Evenings/weekends/bank holidays if required.
Able to travel within the UK and overseas
