Job Purpose:

Scruffy Dog Productions Limited is currently seeking an Estimator to join their highly professional, and skilled team. The company is currently busy tendering on a wide variety of projects across the UK, Europe, Dubai, Russia and China and is looking for an experienced Estimator to work from their Birmingham office.

We are looking for a motivated, proactive and organised Estimator who is highly proficient and professional with experience in estimating in a variety of mediums, who will be able to take a project from enquiry or tendering conception to completion with a full cost analysis and BOQ development for production and installation projects

Ambitious and thought-driven, who will be responsible for the planning and estimating process, within the required timescales, experience in working in high end bespoke projects. With 5 years minimum working experience joinery, metalwork and other media products on creative projects with practical industry knowledge.

Organisational Relationship:

This position will report to the Design Manager and the successful candidate can expect to receive a very attractive salary circa £30k to £35k per annum and benefits package.

Key areas of responsibility – Project specific duties:

A brief outline of the responsibilities will include:

  • Producing post tender handover packs for production / commercial teams
  • Preparing bills of quantities
  • Importing BOQ’s in to estimating system
  • Researching materials, equipment and labour costs.
  • Identifying, analysing and developing responses to commercial risks
  • Gathering quotes from sub-contractors and suppliers.
  • Value management and cost control
  • Analysing company data, exchange rates and prices using software packages.
  • Helping with bids for new contracts and supporting buying activities.
  • Overseeing the bid submission process, profiling new enquiries, responding to expressions of interest and responding to pre-qualification’s
  • Lead in coordinating and submitting tender and contract documents
  • Handling the post contract process ensuring efficient handover to delivery group and inputting data for variations in final accounts.
  • Developing relationships with client commercial and project management staff

Knowledge, Skills, & Experience:

  • Minimum of five years’ experience in an estimating role
  • Multi-tasking, self-motivated, energetic team player with a flexible and adaptable approach to work.
  • Have good practical organisation skills, planning of resources and programme scheduling.
  • Excellent Communicator & motivator with ability to communicate across all levels of seniority from the work face through to CEO level.
  • Strong industry experience.
  • A methodical approach to work and an eye for detail.
  • Be extremely reliable.

Must be adaptable to change and have the ability/desire to make a difference, a “Will Do” attitude.

Ability to maintain the professional competence, knowledge, and skill necessary for the successful performance of all assigned responsibilities.

Education:

  • Educated to a recognised estimating qualification
  • Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook & Project
  • Practical experience – large scale fit out elements/ prop design & manufacture
  • Experience in AutoCAD or other design packages is desirable
